Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2026
Plain English. If you use okDoktor, these are the rules. They exist to keep the directory honest and useful for everyone.
What this is
okDoktor is a free directory of US healthcare providers built on publicly available data from the CMS National Provider Identifier (NPI) Registry , a federal database maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. All base provider data is public record. okDoktor adds semantic search, community-verified updates, and claimed profile features on top of that data.
okDoktor is an information resource — not a medical service, not a booking platform, and not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified provider for medical decisions.
What you can do
- Search for doctors, clinics, and other healthcare providers
- View contact details after signing in
- Save and bookmark providers
- Submit corrections to provider information
- Use the directory for personal, non-commercial purposes
What you cannot do
- Scrape or bulk harvest data — provider contact details are real people's numbers. Scraping them for spam, telemarketing, or resale is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination and potential legal action.
- Submit false information — deliberately adding wrong provider details or misleading information harms real people trying to find healthcare.
- Abuse the search API — rate limits are in place. Circumventing them is not allowed.
- Impersonate providers — do not claim a profile that is not yours.
- Commercial use without permission — you may not repackage or resell this data.
Accuracy of information
Base provider data is sourced directly from the CMS NPI Registry (npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov). We sync regularly but cannot guarantee every record reflects the most current state. Provider details — addresses, phone numbers, specialties — can change. Always verify directly with the provider before visiting.
okDoktor is not liable for decisions made based on information in the directory. If you find incorrect information, please suggest a correction.
Claimed profiles
Providers may claim their NPI profile after identity verification. Claimed profiles may contain additional information supplied directly by the provider — bio, photo, insurances, languages, telehealth availability. okDoktor does not independently verify this additional information but reserves the right to remove content that is false or misleading.
Provider removal requests
Base NPI data is public record published by CMS. We are not able to remove providers from the NPI registry itself — that must be done through CMS directly. However, if you want your okDoktor profile suppressed or your claimed profile data removed, email us at [email protected] and we will act within 7 days.
Accounts
You are responsible for activity under your account. If you notice unauthorised use, contact us immediately. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice.

We may update these terms. The date at the top will always reflect the last change. Continued use of the site means you accept the current terms.
